Who are we?

The Friends of the Guimet Museum association brings together amateurs and professionals of Asian art who ensure the institution's influence in France and internationally, encourage donations and bequests and thus contribute to the enrichment of the collections.

Founded in 1923, the Society of Friends of the Guimet Museum (SAMG) is an association under the 1901 law, recognized as a public utility in 1971, which has included illustrious orientalists such as Paul Pelliot, Joseph Hackin, Sylvain Levi and personalities such as David David-Weill and Georges Salles.

In 2023, we celebrated the 100th anniversary of the association and all these years of friendship with the Friends of the Guimet Museum through the SAMG Centenary exhibition.
